Style File: Earth Tones Still Have My Heart

I've said a million times and I will say it again, I am a proud child of ochres, siennas and umbers. Brown is EASILY one of my favorite colors. It's so warm and reminiscent of skin that it feels so natural.

This look I put together this weekend was giving me major Jingle Jangle teas. Yes, the Christmas Movie with Anika Noni Rose, Phylicia Rashad and Forest Whitaker. I didn't make this connection until after I saw the photos my friend took of me this day. I absolutely loved the costume design in that film, which after a small investigation I found out was done by Michael Wilkinson, who also worked on Aladdin live action and TRON: Legacy. Anyhow, enough of this small history lesson, let's chat the look.

The humble star of this look is undoubtedly the sienna colored two-piece knit set from FindMeNow the Label. I absolutely love the fit and feel of this set. It's one of those that can be dressed up or down... in this case I'd say I was somewhere in the middle.

2 piece sets provide the same sense of ease as dresses. No need to worry with matching a top to a bottom, just grab and pair with accessories etc., To keep thinks in the earthy browns family I chose this burnt Sienna colored Michael Stars beret and my red ochre moon bag from Staud.

The makeup look was kept simple using a full face of the all new Merit Beauty by Kathrine Power of WhoWhatWear. I'll be sharing a first impressions and try-on of the brand on my Youtube soon.

The shoes are my second favorite piece of this look. The brown Gemini Mule is from the little sister brand of Yuul Yie, YieYie. Though the brand is Korean, I was 100% living my Anime dreams with this shoe. It's so adorable. I would love to see it paired with knee high socks and a little school girl dress!

I haven't felt like dressing up and documenting looks much but this one was fun!

Happy Monday, loves! <:)
